LeanIX Enterprise Architecture Integration
Problem
OPG needed the LeanIX enterprise architecture management platform integrated with its existing ITSM and data sources, so the application portfolio view would be live and governed instead of manually maintained.
Approach
Designed and delivered the integration architecture connecting LeanIX to ServiceNow and internal data systems, with automated data flows and governance processes to keep EA artifacts current.
Outcome
A live EA platform with automated data synchronisation, giving leadership an accurate, continuously updated view of the application portfolio. Specific metrics available on request. *

Stack
Enterprise architecture tools are only as useful as the data feeding them. OPG had adopted LeanIX as its EA management platform, but the portfolio data lived in ServiceNow and internal systems that weren’t connected to it. With no automated flows, the EA team burned effort on manual updates, and the platform steadily drifted away from the actual state of the portfolio.
The integration connected LeanIX to ServiceNow via REST APIs, automating synchronisation of application, infrastructure, and configuration item data. Power Automate orchestrated the flows and handled the transformation logic between the ServiceNow CMDB schema and the LeanIX fact sheet model. Governance processes defined ownership, update frequency, and what happens when the two systems disagree.
Schema mapping was the core design challenge. ServiceNow and LeanIX represent IT assets with fundamentally different data models. Getting the mapping right meant working with EA leadership and the ITSM team to establish which data was authoritative, which was derived, and how conflicts should resolve without a human in the loop. The result: a live EA platform giving OPG leadership a portfolio view they could actually trust.
