About
I'm Firoz Ozman, an IT Solutions Architect. I design and build enterprise systems across the Microsoft stack, mainly Power Platform, Microsoft 365, and Azure, with long roots in information architecture, identity, governance, and the discipline of ALM that only comes from having skipped it once and paid for it.
My thesis: the architect/developer handoff is where most enterprise low-code failure starts. For mid-complexity Microsoft cloud work, the right operating model is design-and-build by the same senior person, someone who can hold the architecture in mind while writing the Power Fx formula, and who answers for both. That's the role I occupy.
Most organisations rushing toward Copilot aren't short on AI talent. Their data, identity, governance, and content foundations aren't ready. Broken sensitivity labels, ungoverned SharePoint, unmanaged Power Platform sprawl, and weak DLP turn every Copilot rollout into a liability. Preparing that foundation, then deploying AI responsibly into it, is the specific work I do.
I hold Federal Secret Level II clearance, TOGAF 9.1, and over twelve Microsoft certifications including Power Platform Solution Architect (PL-600) and Azure Solutions Architect. I'm based in Canada and work with organisations across North America.
How I work
I'm a senior hands-on architect. I set direction and build alongside the team; a blueprint I won't help implement is a blueprint I don't trust yet.
On team engagements, I put the delivery foundation in first: environment strategy, ALM, source control, deployment pipelines, documentation standards. The goal is a team that's more capable when I leave than when I arrived.
I do my best work on mid-to-large Microsoft cloud engagements where the complexity genuinely warrants senior judgment across data modelling, security architecture, identity governance, and user experience. That's where there's real work to lead.
Career
I started in enterprise consulting at Accenture, Avanade, and Deloitte, building SharePoint and collaboration platforms at scale in the pre-M365 era. From there: Solutions Architect at Metrolinx (Ontario's transportation authority, four years), M365 Subject Matter Expert at Plexxus / Mohawk Medbuy (Ontario healthcare, eleven years), and a sustained consulting practice across defence, public sector, and commercial clients.
