Problem
A defence sector client needed its aging SharePoint intranet modernised and its Microsoft Entra identity foundation hardened, in support of Zero Trust adoption and MFA enforcement across a sensitive operating environment.
Approach
Led the SharePoint Online migration and redesign, implemented Microsoft Entra MFA and SSO policies, and established identity governance baselines aligned to defence security requirements.
Outcome

A Federal Secret–level environment demands a different operating posture. Access control stops being a configuration exercise and becomes a compliance obligation. The SharePoint modernisation at General Dynamics was as much about information architecture and governance discipline as about the platform migration itself.
The intranet ran on an aging on-premises SharePoint deployment. Moving to SharePoint Online meant mapping existing content and permission structures onto the M365 model while tightening access controls and unwinding the oversharing patterns that had accumulated over years. In parallel, the identity foundation was hardened: Microsoft Entra MFA enforcement, SSO policy, and identity governance baselines, all built to support the organisation’s Zero Trust trajectory.
In defence, the margin for error in identity and access configuration is zero. One misconfigured permission boundary, one excessive external sharing setting, one gap in MFA enforcement can constitute a compliance breach. Every decision was documented and reviewed against defence security requirements.
